Houston High School
Just a few days away from prom, Houston High School junior and senior students got a reminder Wednesday about the dangers of distracted/drunk driving. TN Highway Patrol, Regional One Medical Center and Emergency Mobile Health Care volunteers along with student actors staged a mock drunk-driving car accident, on the school’s football stadium as a Prom Promise event. This allowed students to witness a potentially fatal outcome of drinking and driving. The carefully constructed scene documented everything from the moment a group of teens arrives at a ruined car carrying their friends, to the arrival of emergency crews, and their efforts to save the passengers. Sgt. Chris Richardson (TN Highway Patrol) and Mr. Cherry (principal of HHS) encouraged students to make wise choices not only on the night of prom but life long good choices. This event was organized by HHS SADD Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Advisors: Mrs. Denise Fisher & Mr. Chris Cook.
