Brittany’s Kids On Campus Club Formed To Raise Awareness of The Dangers of Driving Impaired and Distracted

Project Description

On Christmas Day 2022, Walker Valley HS 9th Grade Teacher, Brittany Dillard and her husband, Dustin were killed by a drunk driver while they were traveling to a final Christmas Celebration Dinner to join up with other family members. Their three young boys sustained life threatening critical injuries but by the actions of the first responders and by God’s grace survived. The Dillard family and friends have since launched a 501c3 nonprofit organization called The 24/7 Movement whose mission is to engage in positive change to reduce and prevent impaired and distracted driving. Brittany’s students at the time of the crash have since started an on-campus club that launched in September of 2023 that meets monthly. They are honoring the legacy of their teacher, Brittany Dillard by raising awareness about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving among their peers and throughout the community. They have a voice in The 24/7 Movement. They are engaging in traffic safety awareness projects and impairment and distracted driving projects. Approximately 35 students are actively involved.
