Clay McEwen at TDOT for Newbern and Lake Counties Question 2- What’s your job like, and what does an average day on the job look like for you? Deal with the public, traffic, roads, and difficult weather conditions. 400 miles in Dyer County and 120 miles in Lake County Question 3- How much time do you spend in a work zone or along a busy road? varies on the job and the situation Question 4- Does it ever feel unsafe? Have you ever heard about or witnessed any accidents in a work zone? Yes and YES many times. 219 workers in TN were killed in accidents while working. Question 5- Why is Work Zone Awareness Week important? Its important every day and should be a year long thing. Question 6- What advice do you want to give to teenage drivers? Stay off cellphones, wear your seatbelts, and pay attention to the road Ouestion 7- What is the most difficult part of your job? Dealing with the public, people yelling and cussing at you Question 8- What is the best part of your job? The time off, the benefits and 13 paid holidays off. Question 9- For our upcoming graduates, what route do you suggest for them to take to be a part of your team? Be interested in the job and equipment Question 10- Is there anything else you’d like to add to this interview? Drive safe, be cautious in work zones, and pay attention to the work signs!
