DCHS students: Bo, Seth and Blake Question 1- What’s your name and employer? Allen Cook, Dyer Board of Education- 32 years with transportation Question 2- What’s your job like, and what does an average day on the job look like for you? Supervise 49 bus routes, send a bus to Jackson for the School of the Deaf, we carry 3,000 students a day Question 3- How much time do you spend in a work zone or along a busy road? On a typical breakdown, around an hour Question 4- Does it ever feel unsafe? Have you ever heard about or witnessed any accidents in a work zone? Everytime I’m on the side of the road, a car rear-ended our bus while we were working on it. it sent the bus, the other vehicle, car parts, and body parts flying. that’s the kind of stuff we deal with Question 5- Why is Work Zone Awareness Week important? to raise awareness for working on the side of the road, in construction zones and everything else Question 6- What advice do you want to give to teenage drivers? Put the phone in the backseat and leave it there Ouestion 7- What is the most difficult part of your job? Dealing with vehicles on the road Question 8- What is the best part of your job? Getting 3,000 students to and from school safely Question 9- For our upcoming graduates, what route do you suggest for them to take to be a part of your team? Be a good, safe driver with a clean record. You’ll need a CDL. Thank you!
