Our students participated in a hands-on drunk and drugged driving awareness program, gaining firsthand insight into the dangers of impaired driving.
In partnership with The 24/7 Movement, we set up several impairment awareness stations at our school. One station featured a mock driving challenge, where students navigated a road mat using a steering wheel attached to a small car—first while sober and then while wearing impairment goggles. The goggles simulated different blood alcohol content (BAC) levels, ranging from 0.08–0.15 and 0.25–0.35, demonstrating the increasing effects of intoxication.
Throughout the activity, representatives from The 24/7 Movement guided students, turning the experience into a valuable lesson about the real-world consequences of impaired driving.
As a result, several students took the Safe Driving Pledge and made the I Will Not Be Silent Promise.
