In a spirit of partnership and community impact, Bradley Central High School recently hosted a special “Invite a School” Safe Driving and DUI Impairment Awareness Event, welcoming students from Cleveland High School for an evening focused on the critical message that choices behind the wheel matter.
This unique event brought together students from both schools to participate in engaging demonstrations and activities that highlighted the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. One of the most memorable moments was a halftime challenge held in front of a packed gym filled with fans from both campuses. Selected students were invited to dribble a basketball, shoot a layup, and take a free throw—all while wearing drunk goggles that simulated alcohol impairment. The result was a fun yet eye-opening experience that delivered a powerful reminder of how drastically impairment affects coordination and judgment.
In addition to the challenge, students took part in field sobriety tests led by law enforcement officers and volunteered at The 24/7 Movement’s education and awareness booth. There, they helped promote responsible decision-making and safe driving practices among their peers.
This cross-campus initiative went beyond raising awareness—it fostered unity, encouraged peer leadership, and reinforced the truth that when it comes to driving, the right choice is always the safe choice.
