Regional Awareness Event w/The 24/7 Movement

Project Description

Our students and faculty partnered with The 24/7 Movement at its 2nd Annual Regional Banquet to raise awareness and educate others about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. Students served in a variety of roles, including table service, manning impairment activity stations, assisting with setup and cleanup, recorded video segments on drunk and distracted driving stats, and distributing educational resources. The event drew more than 400 attendees from across the region, including representatives from several high schools. One of the most powerful moments of the evening was a special ceremony honoring first responders—from law enforcement, fire/rescue, EMS, the 911 call center, Life Force/Life Star, and more. Among those honored were the first responders who answered the call to the Dillard crash on Christmas Day 2022. Their swift and selfless actions helped save the lives of Brittany and Dustin’s three sons after a drunk driver caused the devastating collision. More than $50,000 was raised to combat drunk and distracted driving.
