Rivalry Nights: Basketball Game Safe Driving Campaign

Project Description

Walker Valley HS hosted a quick and engaging free throw challenge during halftime, featuring two students (one from each school) and an Assistant Principal wearing impairment/drunk goggles. Each participant started by attempting a layup and a free throw without the goggles. Then, they repeated the same shots while wearing the goggles to highlight the impact of impairment on coordination and judgment. Steve Hartline, who is providing live TV coverage, has agreed to MC the event using the house PA system. To ensure the activity runs smoothly, a CHS game staff member can help us pre-select participants and have them ready to go at the designated time. To add excitement and reward participation: 1. Each contestant received a free “Choices Matter” t-shirt. 2. Any participant who makes a foul shot while wearing the goggles will win a gift card. 3. This engaging demonstration was both fun and impactful for the audience, emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving. Additionally, cheerleaders will held signs with messages such as: “Choices Matter” “Buckle Up” “Phone Down” “Drive Sober”
