East Ridge High School partnered with The 24/7 Movement and the East Ridge Police Department to host a Safe Driving Awareness Day, designed to engage and educate students on the real-life consequences of impaired and distracted driving. The event featured a series of hands-on learning experiences that brought the message to life in an impactful way.
Students rotated through a specially designed driving course that simulated scenarios involving impaired and distracted driving. While navigating the course wearing “drunk goggles,” students experienced firsthand the difficulties of operating a vehicle under the influence. Our SRO and East Ridge Police Officers guided each student and their passengers through the course, explaining what they were experiencing and the potential consequences of impaired driving. Even students in the back seat wore impairment goggles, helping them gain a broader understanding of the risks from every seat in the vehicle.
