Safe Driving Awareness Day: DUI & Distraction Prevention
April 25, 2025
Project Description
We recently hosted a powerful and interactive Safe Driving Awareness Day in partnership with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, ATS The Bridge, and The 24/7 Movement. Designed to engage and educate students on the real-life consequences of impaired and distracted driving, the event featured a series of hands-on learning experiences that brought the message to life. Students helped to plan this Regional Event working closely with the agencies involved and helping at each station.
Students rotated through a variety of dynamic stations, including:
A driving course to simulate safe and distracted driving scenarios
A “Walk the Line” field sobriety test facilitated by law enforcement
THC goggles and DIES mat to demonstrate marijuana impairment effects
Drug impairment goggles for an eye-opening obstacle course
Seat Belt Selfies to promote safety with creativity
A Safe Driving Pledge where students committed to making responsible choices on the road
Throughout the day, students and teachers engaged with officers, community leaders, and volunteers who emphasized one core truth: every decision behind the wheel matters. It was more than just a day—it was a movement toward safer roads and stronger futures.
