Safe Driving Awareness Day

Project Description

Rhea County High School partnered with The 24/7 Movement, the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department and THSO to host a Safe Driving Awareness Day, aimed at engaging and educating students on the real-life consequences of impaired and distracted driving. The event featured a series of hands-on learning experiences that brought the message to life. Students rotated through the driving course designed to simulate impaired and distracted driving scenarios. While navigating the course wearing “drunk goggles,” students experienced firsthand the challenges of driving under the influence. School Resource Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies guided each student and their passengers through the course, explaining what they were experiencing and the potential consequences of such behavior. Even students in the back seat wore impairment goggles, allowing them to understand the dangers from every perspective.
