Volunteer to help educate children on passenger safety. Participants will volunteer to participate in Ollie Otter presentations, interacting with elementary school children to promote child passenger safety. Opportunities for Service Learning hours/credit may be available depending on your high school’s required curriculum. The Ollie Otter Booster Seat and Seat Belt program is grant-funded through the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO). The THSO has been integral in the inception and continued success of the Ollie Otter program.

Encourage Discussion – After watching the video, facilitate a group discussion. Encourage participants to share their thoughts, questions, and insights about the teen driver laws they’ve learned about. Q&A Session – If you have access to a knowledgeable speaker or expert in traffic safety or law enforcement, invite them for a Q&A session to provide further clarification on teen driver laws. This can be in-person or virtual. Distribute Information – Provide participants with informational pamphlets or materials that summarize the teen driver laws discussed in the video. Encourage them to share this information with friends and family.
After the event, consider sending follow-up emails or messages to participants reminding them of their pledge and providing periodic tips and reminders about safe driving practices.
