activity
The purpose of this project is to promote highway safety among teens and focus on seatbelt compliance. This project is also intended to be directed by the teens themselves, promoting leadership, development, and ownership of highway safety issues.
Identify a faculty or staff member or an appropriate club leader (ex. President of your school’s “safe teen driving” club) to coordinate a seat belt checkpoint. Click it & Ticket is a play on words of the usual slogan of Click it OR Ticket in that CIAT rewards students at seatbelt checkpoints who arrive at school wearing their seatbelts with a Citation of Good Behavior.” Students were found not to be wearing their seatbelts with a Warning: Poor Choice citation. For more information, contact admin@reducetncrashes.org
Select the dates to host your event. Students who arrive on campus wearing their seat belts give candy such as smarties those not, give information on how seat belts save lives. Execute your “Click It & Ticket” event and present student incentive awards. Keep track of results.
Have a photo or screenshots ready with students completing the activity and click Submit Points. Submit your final results from your seat checks. This activity can be submitted 1 time per school.
